Planning, designing and conducting hydrogeological studies and construction, supervision of water resources development projects. Responsibilities included synthesis and evaluation of previous data documents, planning and managing field surveys and investigations, preparation of BOQ’s, TOR’s, Technical Specifications and Tender Documents, Development of Groundwater Flow and Solute Transport Models using USGS MODFLOW-MT and MT3D for predicting future aquifer behavior and Solute movement under various development strategies.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN
- National Drainage programme phase-1
, (1998-todate) which comprise institutional and policy reforms, research studies and physical works in the drainage sector of Pakistan, is jointly financed by Govt. of Pakistan, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and Economic Cooperation Fund Japan. The total cost of the project is about 985 million US Dollars. The consultancy services are offered by a consortium of Euroconsult – NESPAK- NDC- Lahmeyer- AHT etc. Designated as Assistant Resident Engineer Tubewells in Sindh Team. Responsibilities included overall planning, design and construction supervision of 444 drainage tubewells in Mirpurkhas, designing of their disposal channels, civil works and selecting, installation of pumps and motors. Rehabilitation of 368 Saline Groundwater tubewells in Khairpur. Prepared BOQ’s Technical Specifications and Tender Documents. Evaluation of tender submitted by contractors and assisting the clients for award of contracts. Assisted by multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, surveyors and other allied staff.
- Second SCARP (Salinity Control and Reclamation Project) Transition Project, Punjab. (1993-98). Project envisaged termination of 1353 public tube wells and construction of about 4700 community/private tube wells in replacement thereof, in rural areas of Rechna Doab. Carried out detailed Hydrogeologial studies of the aspects related to this transition and developed a three dimensional numerical model of groundwater flow and transport for an area of about 2.7 million acres (1.1 million Ha) for predicting future aquifer conditions under various development strategies.

Projects Undertaken
Balochistan Integrated Area Development Project Phase II, (1990-93). Water Supply and Sanitation Programme in 4 districts (27 village clusters) of Balochistan Province. The Project was undertaken by a joint venture of M/S Halcrow and Partners (UK), NESPAK, Engineering Consultants. Designated as Project Hydrogeologist/Master Driller. Responsibilities included assessment of groundwater potential in various scheme areas through hydrogeological studies and investigations, siting and designing of water supplies of boreholes, afridev pumps in remote areas of Balochistan. Prepared Bill of Quantities (BOQ), Technical specifications, Engineering estimates and Tender Documents. Detail construction supervision of two drilling contractors and BIAD rigs with the assistance of 15 field supervisors supervising eight drilling rigs.
- Waste Water Reuse Project Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (1989-90), which included investigations and engineering design for waste water reuse planning in Dammam area and possible conveyance to Alhassa for irrigated agriculture. The study also covers inter-alia the possible intrusion of saline water from sea along the coastal areas in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. A joint venture of M/S Saud Consult (Saudi Arabia) and NESPAK undertook the Project. Responsibilities included study and detail appraisal of groundwater flow domain in all the four aquifers underlying the Eastern Province through synthesis and review of a number of reports and documents by various consultants and field investigations. Prepared reports on the deta9led groundwater potential available for future development after arresting saline water intrusion in the coastal areas.
- Strategic Investment Plans and Project Preparation for Rural Water Supply Sanitation and Health Project (1988-89), in all the four Provinces of Pakistan Project undertaken by the Joint Venture of M/S Wardrop Acres, Cowater International (Canada) and NESPAK. Participated as member of the Central Team and assembled detailed knowledge of water resources in the country up to district and village level and associated with the foreign consultants in the preparation of various investment plans.
- Study on the Contribution of Private Tubewells in the Development of Water potential in Pakistan (1987-88), A countrywide research project all over Pakistan. Responsibilities included study and review of existing data and documents on groundwater regime and environment and monitoring of private tubewells with the assistance of field engineers and sociologists to estimate existing utilization of groundwater and remaining available potential in all the districts of Pakistan.
- Groundwater Development in Southern Basin of Quetta Valley (1986-87) Project, comprised of detailed hydrogeological investigations and development through construction of deep tubewells in a very complex geological environment in Southern part of Quetta valley for various housing schemes and industrial estate in the suburbs of Quetta. The study inter-alia included airborne survey through JICA of Japan, identifying deep-seated water producing zones in the aquifers underlying the project area. Provided detailed designing and construction supervision through drilling contracts.
- Quetta Water Supply Project – Balochistan (1983-86), The Project undertaken to augment water supply to Quetta through detailed groundwater investigation and development of groundwater resources of Quetta valley by installing water supply tubewells at selected location in the piedmont deposits of Quetta valley. Carried out detailed field surveys and investigations which included resistivity surveys, test holes drilling through straight rotary rigs, geophysical logging, initial development and testing followed by development and testing by turbine, aquifer tests, designed and supervised construction of water supply boreholes through drilling contracts.

Planning, designing, construction supervision and appraisal of the works of various consultants and contractors like ITAL Consult, Italliana Lavori, Food Development Corporation of United States, Geosonda, Bulghargeomin, and Compania Medditerranean Prospeozoni (CMP). They were engaged on a number of projects pertaining to groundwater development for cereal productions through pivot irrigation in great desert Sahara. Responsible for detail planing and designing of well fields based on detailed hydrogeological studies and determination of aquifer characteristics and detailed construction supervision of water supply bore holes. The detail supervision included site location, drilling of test holes, lithologic sampling and sieve analysis, geophysical logging by SP, electric and radio active tools, TV and flow meter serves, casing and screen installation, initial development with compressor, surging and jetting tools followed by final development and testing with turbine.
